In June 2006, Snowflake Skating Club's coach, Dominic Pike, was presented The 2006 Skate Canada Club & Recreation Award of Excellence at Skate Canada's Annual Convention in Markham, Ontario. This national award for the coaching of figure skating is a very prestigious award, and Dominic was the first ever recipient in Newfoundland Labrador.
